Cause

The above error is caused by Windows not installing .Net Framework 3.5.

Solution

• Turn on Windows Update at the path: Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Administrative Tools\Serivce or type Service on the Windows search bar and open “Service“.
• Then install .Net Framework 3.5. The installer is available in X drive, copy it to C drive, then install.
• Reinstall 3Ds Max 2014.
• After completing the setup, go back to Service and turn off Windows Update.
